Nkulee Dube, the daughter of South African Reggae superstar, Lucky Dube, has been nominated in six categories at the 31st Annual International World and Reggae Music Awards (IRAWMA).
Nkulee Dube is nominated for Best Female Vocalist, Best Song for “Luv the Way”, Best Album for “My Way”, Best Music Video for “Who Dem”, Best New Entertainer and Most Promising Entertainer.
The nominations have earned her a coveted place in history among a select few new artistes to be nominated for the awards.
This year’s awards ceremony is dedicated to Jamaica’s 50th Year of Independence, and will be held in Chicago, Illinois, on July 5, in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the International Festival of Life (IFOL).
Nkulee and her band will be on tour throughout the U.S. and Europe this summer.
The IRAWMA is produced by Martin’s International, an organization whose primary objective is to promote reggae, Caribbean, African and other world music as an art form and as a vehicle for the expression of the voiceless people of the world. Each year, the IRAWMA honours entertainers and others associated with world music for their contributions to the industry and to humanity internationally. Some 20 million fans worldwide watched live broadcasts and broadcast clips of the last two IRAWMA ceremonies on television and over the Internet.
This year’s nominees will be announced worldwide via radio, television and internet in a live broadcast from Jamaica later this month.
