The TD IRIE Music Festival is a free family-friendly celebration of the best in Reggae, Soca, Salsa and Soul. Already held to capacity crowds in Mississauga and Oshawa this summer, the festival will be conducted in Toronto during the Simcoe Day long weekend.
The TD IRIE Music Festival will feature Jamaica’s singing sensation and golden voice, Richie Stephens (formerly of Soul II Soul). Fresh from a European tour with Snoop Lion and German dancehall great, Gentleman, Stephens will perform his internationally renowned and Grammy Award-winning hits.
Stephens will be joined by reggae legend, Half Pint, who just signed a major deal with Universal for his immense back catalogue, which includes his number one hits ‘Winsome’ (covered by the Rolling Stones as ‘Too Rude’) and ‘Loving’ (covered by Sublime). For his contributions to Reggae, the TD IRIE Music Festival will present a “Special Achievement Award” to Half Pint.
The TD IRIE Music Festival will also feature Soca star, Kerwin Du Bois; rising Toronto chanteuse, Shi Wisdom; the TD Dancers, dance Immersion, Masia One, D’Enforcas, Farahri, Comfort, Jahbuddah, Music Sniper and more.
Organizers of the TD IRIE Music Festival have launched the IRIE Music Festival App, developed by festival sponsors, TheAppLabb, a leading Toronto-based firm specializing in the strategy, design and development of Mobile Apps. The IRIE Mobile App is available for iPhone and Android devices. Visit irie.theapplabb.com to download the mobile app.
“We are very pleased to have entered into this partnership with TheAppLabb,” said Phil Vassell, TD IRIE Music Festival co-founder. “They have a great team and together we hope to continue using this mobile app to make the IRIE Fest community easily connected with information at their fingertips.”
The App’s features include intuitive icons for looking up event schedule itineraries, event and transportation information, real-time event news and announcements, sponsor lists, feedback and survey capabilities, social media integration, registration and fun promotions and potential prizing.
“I am extremely excited about this partnership and the possibilities are endless,” said Kundan Joshi, CEO of the TheAppLabb. “Through the App we are certain to enrich the experience of thousands of attendees of this growing festival and create a strong and engaged IRIE community.”
The TD IRIE Music Festival will be held from Friday, August 2 to Monday, August 5 at Nathan Phillips Square. Admission is free.
