For the fourth consecutive year, the Scotiabank CHIN Picnic will feature performances by Caribbean artistes.
Produced by Jones & Jones Productions Ltd., the “Caribbean Swing” stage will feature music from Jamaica, Antigua, Guyana and Trinidad, headlined by a performance by three-time JUNO award winner, Exco Levi.
Other performers include soul and R&B songstress, Jay Harmony; 10-piece soca and chutney band, Destiny; Mountain Edge Roots & Culture, a Canadian reggae band and Real 3D, a four-piece African contemporary dance group.
MCs for the Caribbean Swing are Kayla Thompson, Denise Jones and Clifton, who co-hosts “Talk To Me” on CHIN 100.7FM on Saturday nights. Ron Nelson, who hosts “Reggaemania” on Saturday nights on CHIN, will be the DJ for the CHIN picnic.
The first CHIN picnic was held in 1967, one year after CHIN Radio/TV International was founded by the late Johnny Lombardi. The annual event, held at Exhibition Place, spans several days and includes musical and dance performers, amusement park rides, an international shopping bazaar and international concessions.
The Scotiabank CHIN Picnic will be held on Saturday, June 28, Sunday June 29 and Tuesday, July 1 at Exhibition Place. The Caribbean Swing will be held on Tuesday, July 1 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
