AIDS Committee of Toronto Announcement

The AIDS committee of Toronto is phasing out its library services in response to increased demand for online information and a decline in visitors to the library to access materials. Access to books, audio-visual materials, periodicals and journals will end on Saturday, May 1. Winding down of the program will continue until Friday, July 2.

Health Symposium

The “Hope, Health, and Humour Symposium” will be held on Saturday, May 15 at the Durham College/University of Ontario Institute of Technology Campus (UOIT), UOIT Business/IT Building, 2000 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The symposium is being held to raise awareness of the importance of mental, physical and emotional health. All are welcome to attend.

The event will include various displays, workshops, refreshment breaks and lunch, “swag/goody bags” for participants, and more. Canadian actor/comedian/writer Neil Crone will be the keynote speaker. Eli Bay, President of the Relaxation Response Institute, will be the closing speaker.

Admission to the symposium is $25 (fee includes parking, refreshments, lunch and participant swag bags). Registration is required and seating is limited. Please RSVP to confirm registration by Sunday, April 26.

African Canadian Mental Health Support

The Krasman Centre, a community mental health organization serving York Region and South Simcoe, runs a support group every second Thursday for African-Canadians who live with a diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health issue. No fees are required for any of the services provided. The Krasman Centre is located at 10121 Yonge Street, (one block north of Major Mackenzie Drive), Richmond Hill.
