Grenadians in Toronto to celebrate independence


Grenada will celebrate 37 years as an independent nation, on February 7. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Celebrating 37 years through challenging times with Optimism and Resiliency”.


In commemoration of this special occasion, the Grenadian community in Toronto, Canada is hosting the following events:

A Flag Raising Ceremony at Nathan Phillip Square, on Friday February 4, at 12:00 noon.  Following the ceremony, there will be a reception at the office of the Consulate General.

An Independence Gala hosted by the Grenada Association (Toronto) and the Consulate General of Grenada in Toronto on Saturday, February 5, at Spirale Banquet Hall – 888 Don Mills Road, at 6:30 p.m.

A Literary Night hosted by Spice Youth Toronto and the Consulate General of Grenada on Thursday, February 10 at 6:00 p.m.

A Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, February 13, at 3:00 p.m., at the St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church, 811 Lawrence Avenue West – Dufferin & Lawrence Avenue West.

Grenada’s Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports, Patrick Simmons, will celebrate this year’s independence with the Grenadian community in Toronto.
